Like a proud father here are pictures of my new record player. It is anything but an infant.
Record not included.
The speakers are surprisingly powerful at 20 Watts. RMS? I'm not that techy. It's loud enough and they also slot neatly on top as a lid for portability. Not that I'm carry it around because it runs on mains. There is a quirky autoplay function that lets you perch a record on top of the spindle, as that contracts the record drops down onto the rotating surface before the stylus moves onto the groove.
Make sure you have it set to the correct size otherwise the needle will could miss it's mark causing all sorts of unexpected noises. Perhaps I should just post a video!
It was purchased from the amazing vintage shop Speedie's on Redchurch St. Anything older than 20 years is vintage.

Playlist May 2010
There's a lull in the indie rock force. My senses seem to be sub-consciously preparing my body for an onslaught of quiet and loud guitar wrangling thanks to the traditional May jaunts to ATP and Primavera.
The Ghost in the Machine is opting for sonic balance by ushering in more rhythmic frequencies. Here is the evidence courtesy of my LastFM profile.
Rustie
Rustie is a Glasgow based aquacrunk artist ... that's aquacrunk. Genius!
Fashawn
Fashawn is a young hip hop artist from Fresno in North Cali(fornia) and reminds me of Nas, details here
Fresno is also the crystal meth capital of America.
Torche
Torche, are a guitar worshipping mofos. I'll skip them for now based on my introduction.

Mobb Deep

Seeing as this post is laden with lazy genre terms, here's a phrase that hopefully sums up these guys, electro-art-punk. Sorry, I'll get my coat and leave you with this amazing video.

My Albums Of The Noughties
Here it is, a list of my favourite 21 albums of the first ten years of the 21st century. There are 21 because that's just the way it panned out. The criteria is simply which albums have I listened to the most since the new millenium.
I also cross referenced my fading memories of yearly album lists I compiled when I worked in a record shop and lists made with friends after this. Here is a podcast released in Dec 2008 reviewing that year in music with Jack Mountain and TheoGb. My Lastfm profile is here. The decade list seems to favour the first half with no albums from 2007 at all. The list is currently in chronological order and features one act from the UK, one from Japan and two from Canada.
